Mr. Firzan Hashim

Country Director, A-PAD Sri Lanka / COO, A-PAD International​

Mr. Firzan Hashim is the Chief Operating Officer of A-PAD International and the Country Director of A-PAD Sri Lanka. He excels in connecting the private sector with governments and humanitarian agencies for emergency and sustainable development efforts and is a member of the UNICEF Business Council. Mr. Hashim has served on the Executive Committee Board for the Connecting Business Initiative (CBi) and in committees for conflict stabilization and Search and Rescue. He is a former Sri Lanka Air Force Group Captain with a Master’s in Defense Management and Development Studies.

Mr. BuwAneka Abeysuriya

Board Member

Mr. Buwaneka Abeysuriya is a retired Wing Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force. He is currently the Proprietor of a family-owned hotel business with many years of experience in the tourism and hospitality sector, with a strong focus on Sri Lankan tradition, local integration, and modern sophistication in delivering authentic Sri Lankan hospitality. Mr. Abeysuriya holds memberships in several local and international tourism and hotel associations and is also actively engaged as a social worker, supporting initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized and vulnerable communities.

Prof. Dr. Quazi Quamruzzaman

Chairman, A-PAD International

Prof. Dr. Quazi Quamruzzaman currently serves as Chairperson of A-PAD International, Dhaka Community Hospital Trust, and the Community Initiative Society. A medical specialist with an MBBS and Double FRCS, he pioneered nationwide research on groundwater arsenic contamination in Bangladesh and has collaborated with leading institutions including Harvard University and Jadavpur University. With over 50 publications, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2021 for his contributions to social service.​

Mr. Kensuke Onishi

CEO – APAD International​

Mr. Onishi is currently CEO of Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) and Chairperson and CEO of Peace Winds Japan. He established Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) in 1996 to conduct relief operations for Internally Displaced Persons(IDP) in the Kurdish Autonomous Region of northern Iraq. He took a leading role in the founding of “Japan Platform,” an innovative mechanism in which members of various sectors of society (government, private corporations, and NGOs) cooperate in extending humanitarian aid. He is currently a board member of Japan Platform and appointed as CEO of Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management, founded by 5 country representatives in Philippines, Indonesia, Sri-Lanka, Korea and Japan.

Ms. Kaori Neki

Director, Head of Management Office/A-PAD Japan

Ms. Kaori Neki is the Director and Head of the Management Office at A-PAD and the Chairperson of Civic Force Japan. She was actively involved in establishing Civic Force/A-PAD Japan, which collaborates with the private sector to support disaster response efforts in Japan. Ms. Neki also serves as Director of the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (APADM) since its founding in 2012. Her experience includes working with various NGOs and private enterprises in the field of disaster management.
