The Easter Sunday Attacks of 2019 in Sri Lanka marks the birth of Project Phoenix. A tripartite partnership was forged with the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement and A-PAD Sri Lanka in supporting the survivors and the families of those whose lives were lost on that fateful day. A three-year long program was agreed upon for diverse elements of support where health, nutrition and education took priority, followed by livelihood, psychosocial and post education support. At the cusp of its third-year completion, Project Phoenix has achieved lasting smiles and string survivors who have embraced hope and will continue to stride towards wonderful futures, while remembering the ones they love most in their hearts.
