Message from Country Director

Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management was established in Sri Lanka in 2014, with the aim of complementing the efforts of the state in disaster management through Public-Private-Partnership, multi-stakeholder clansman ship and Civil-Military Cooperation. Inspired by our principles in Japan the Sri Lankan platform has taken upon itself to create networking opportunities, while coordinating and facilitating towards achieving disaster risk reduction, business and community resilience in a sustainable manner. Echoing the A-PAD vision – “Saving Lives and Businesses”, it is my greatest honor to be bestowed with several opportunities of partnerships followed by diverse innovations in the disaster management fraternity of Sri Lanka and that of  the world. The recent years have shown the occurrence of multiple interruptions and the need for nations to rise collectively in order to reduce economic and human damages, sustain businesses and create sustainably resilient communities.

A-PAD will continue to bring innovation to its work, and I invite all our partners to join hands with us in continuing to strengthen our economy and our people and also educate the younger generations to be mitigate, be better prepared and take on this mission to the futures. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to the A-PAD International Management, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan, Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka for the continuous support extended to Sri Lanka throughout the years and strengthening cross-border ties every step of the way.

This journey certainly has been challenging and will continue to be so, yet the endless opportunities to expand and venture into new realms remain infinite.

Thank you!
