A-PAD Facilitates Dental Health Clinic through Public-Private Partnership in Balangoda
In a strong demonstration of public-private sector collaboration, A-PAD facilitated an oral health awareness and dental check-up programme at R/Balangoda Kahatapitiya Hapugahakumbura School on May 15, 2025. The school serves 85 students, many from low-income families with limited access to routine dental care.
In coordination with the school, A-PAD secured the support of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Office in Balangoda and obtained the necessary approvals from the Balangoda Zonal Education Office to carry out the clinic. The programme commenced with an oral hygiene awareness session, followed by dental check-ups for all 85 students and 21 teachers.
To enhance the programme’s impact, A-PAD also mobilized support from private sector partners, with TNR Enterprises Balangoda and the Hanwella Rajasingha Centennial Lions Club providing essential logistical and material assistance.
Regular dental clinics like this are essential in promoting early detection, prevention, and the development of lifelong healthy habits – especially in underserved communities. This initiative exemplifies how public-private partnerships can deliver practical, community-centered health solutions with lasting impact. With A-PAD’s coordination, public institutions and private organizations were able to combine resources and expertise to promote better oral health and the long-term well-being of schoolchildren.
