A-PAD Provides Clean Drinking Water Facilities to the Badulla District
A-PAD SL successfully distributed community water filters across the Badulla District to support communities affected by limited access to safe drinking water. The initiative aimed to improve access to clean and safe water for vulnerable groups, particularly schoolchildren and individuals residing in safety centres. Schools in need of safe water access and temporary shelter sites operating on a longer-term basis requiring clean water support were prioritized.
The support is expected to address ongoing concerns related to water quality and water-borne illnesses and contribute to healthier and safer learning and living environments for the affected communities.
The water filters were generously donated by Relief Singapore whose contributions made the initiative possible. Airlink provided critical international airfreight support, facilitating the transport of the water filtration systems to Sri Lanka for deployment. Local implementation and logistical coordination were supported through funding from the Council for Business with Britain (CBB), enabling the effective distribution of the filters across the district.
A-PAD SL remains committed to strengthening community resilience and supporting disaster-affected communities through initiatives that promote health, safety, and sustainable access to essential resources.
A-PAD SL extends its sincere gratitude to Relief Singapore for the generous donation of the water filtration systems, and to Airlink and the Council for Business with Britain for facilitating the international and local logistics that made their delivery and distribution possible. We also express our appreciation to the Badulla District Disaster Management Unit, the Disaster Management Centre, and the National Disaster Relief Services Centre for their valuable coordination and support throughout the distribution process. Special thanks are also extended to the A-PAD Management Office and the people of Japan for their continued support and solidarity in strengthening disaster response efforts.
