A-PAD SAR Team Featured in the CBi Annual Report 2024-25
The Connecting Business Initiative (CBI) – a joint programme of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – brings together business networks from across the globe to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. With 20 Member Networks spanning 67 countries and representing over 1.5 million businesses, CBI is redefining what it means to respond to a crisis – moving beyond traditional humanitarian actors to place the private sector at the centre of disaster risk management.
The CBi Annual Report 2024-25 is a testament to that vision. The report illustrates how businesses are no longer bystanders in humanitarian action, but strategic, operational partners driving real change on the ground.
We are proud to share that A-PAD SL has been recognised in the report. It highlights A-PAD SL’s Swift Water Search and Rescue Training Programme – an initiative that has been building disaster response capacity in Sri Lanka since 2017, and one that continues to break barriers by expanding participation across gender, sector, and institution.
From members of the tri-forces to volunteers from CSOs to representatives from the private and public sectors, the programme is creating a multisectoral community of trained responders who are better equipped to protect lives when it matters most. This recognition reflects A-PAD SL’s ongoing commitment to strengthening national disaster resilience through collaboration, capacity-building, and inclusive action.
