Building Resilience: A-PAD Conducts DRR Training for Students of University of Colombo
On October 2nd, 2024, A-PAD Sri Lanka conducted a training session on disaster risk reduction, management, and resilience for undergraduates from the University of Colombo’s Department of International Relations. The engaging workshop began with an introduction to A-PAD and its mission.
The session featured an interactive activity where participants analyzed specific disasters in their areas and presented preparedness strategies. Students actively participated, sharing their own experiences and perspectives on disaster management.
Additionally, a Search and Rescue team member shared valuable insights on SAR training experiences, enriching the students’ understanding of practical applications in emergency situations.
The training aimed to equip students with knowledge on preventing new risks, mitigating existing ones, and developing effective emergency response plans. Presenters emphasized the importance of building disaster resilience in communities, encouraging participants to stay informed, be prepared, and prioritize safety in all disaster-related situations. This comprehensive approach highlighted the critical role of proactive measures in creating a more resilient society.
