Rapid Rope Rescue Saves Tourist at Little Adam’s Peak
12 January 2025 | Little Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka
A swift and well-coordinated rope rescue operation was successfully carried out at Little Adam’s Peak following the fall of a UK national approximately 100 meters down steep terrain while hiking with his wife.
The Flying Ravana Adventure Park team was on scene within minutes, locating the victim within 15 minutes of deployment. The area was secured, and immediate first aid was administered for breathing difficulties, changes in skin color, a minor head injury, and an ankle injury.
A-PAD–trained SAR members Mr. Oshada Madushanka and Mr. Rangana Dahanayake played a key role in the operation, supporting casualty management and the technical rope rescue. Using a stretcher and a 4:1 pulley hauling system, the victim was carefully and safely extracted in a complex vertical rescue.
The operation concluded at 2:30 PM, with advance coordination ensuring ambulance teams were ready with oxygen support. The victim was safely transferred to the ambulance and transported to Badulla General Hospital for further treatment.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Flying Ravana Adventure Park and APAD Sri Lanka for their valuable support, coordination, and professionalism during this rescue operation.
