Strengthening Humanitarian Procurement Excellence: A-PAD Sri Lanka Completes CHPP Session II in Kuala Lumpur

Oct 8, 2025

Building on the momentum from August’s inaugural training, the second session of the Certified Humanitarian Procurement Professional (CHPP) workshop took place in Kuala Lumpur from 23–25 September 2025. This continuation brought together the same group of humanitarian professionals, trainers, and coordinators to deepen their expertise and expand on the foundations established in Session I.

Session II focused on three critical aspects of humanitarian procurement:

  • Supply Chains: Gaining deeper insights into managing risks, variations, and claims, while building resilience in complex humanitarian environments.
  • Contracts: Strengthening capacity to design governance structures, draft clear terms and conditions, and adopt strategies for effective supplier engagement.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Applying practical tools and techniques for supplier evaluation, service level agreements, and performance reviews to ensure accountability and transparency.

The session emphasized practical learning, with participants engaging in group activities, case studies, and comprehensive assessments covering all modules. This approach ensured that theoretical knowledge was paired with hands-on application, sharpening participants’ ability to adapt procurement practices to real-world humanitarian contexts.

In disaster management, procurement decisions directly affect the speed and quality of response. Strengthened supply chains, well-structured contracts, and measurable performance standards ensure that vital relief reaches communities faster, more reliably, and with better resource accountability.

From A-PAD Sri Lanka, Ms. Sandali Rupasinghe and Ms. Raeesha Ikram successfully completed Session II, further reinforcing the team’s capacity to apply international best practices in procurement during emergency operations. These learnings will contribute to strengthening A-PAD’s disaster preparedness and response initiatives across Sri Lanka and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
