Students from Kindai University Japan Engage in Cross-Cultural Exchange at University of Colombo
The Department of International Relations at the University of Colombo recently hosted a group of nine students from Kindai University, Japan, led by Professor Megumi Kuwana. This visit, facilitated by the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Sri Lanka (A-PAD SL), provided a valuable platform for cross-cultural dialogue and academic exchange. The event featured insightful student presentations on various aspects of Japan-Sri Lanka bilateral ties, including diplomatic relations, educational cooperation, development partnerships, cultural exchanges, disaster risk management, and agricultural collaboration.
A dynamic Q&A session followed the presentations, where students engaged in discussions about the importance of bilateral relations and their impact on various sectors. Topics ranged from disaster management initiatives to the roles of organizations like JICA and JETRO in strengthening Japan-Sri Lanka ties. The event culminated in small group discussions, allowing undergraduates from both universities to exchange ideas and perspectives on the presented topics. By facilitating such exchanges, A-PAD has opened up opportunities for young minds to explore the complexities of international relations firsthand, paving the way for future collaborations and a deeper understanding between the two nations.
