A-PAD Equips Undergraduates of University of Colombo with CPR Training
On the 9th of October, A-PAD Sri Lanka held a CPR Training course for participants from the Departments of International Relations, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo. The training was conducted in collaboration with Sri Lanka Life Saving (SLLS) under the A-PAD Search and Rescue (SAR) initiative.
Under the guidance of SLLS Instructor Mr. Samith Thilina, participants were provided with extensive technical training on providing CPR, including in combination with Automated External Defibrillators (AED), to individuals in critical situations in preparation for particular occupational hazards and disasters. This training ensured that students and lecturers were able to appropriately provide CPR and AED to different demographics including adults, children, and pregnant individuals. In addition, they were briefed on actions one should take prior to providing CPR, such as initial situation assessments, and appropriate actions during and upon conducting CPR.
Upon completing the program, participants will be awarded an internationally recognized license and certification. As a committed advocate for disaster preparedness and response, these sessions are facilitated by A-PAD SL with the aim of ensuring that youth members of society are well equipped to provide vital life-saving assistance in the event of an emergency.
