With the increasing number and severity of disasters, multidisciplinary research on disaster management and climate resilience has become vital. To facilitate such research, a workshop was held on 09th of October 2026 for students from the International Relations department of the University of Colombo at the A-PAD SL offices. This session was led by Ms. Anoja Seneviratne, Consultant/ Disaster Risk Management & Climate Change Specialist and Ms. Vajini Herat Guneratne, Consultant, A-PAD SL, and focused on the intersection of international relations and disaster management.

Participants were taught to identify possible research topics in sectors such as international cooperation, human security, and water governance, possible candidates for interviews as well as sources for secondary information during the workshop. The workshop also highlighted how each research output could have far-reaching implications for the study of both disaster management and international relations.
