A-PAD Kicks Off Swift Water Search and Rescue Level 02 Training
The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Sri Lanka (A-PAD SL), began their 3-day Swift Water Search and Rescue Level-2 training program on June 25th in Kitulgala. The program, involving a selected group of 24 participants, from the tri-forces and private sector, focuses on enhancing the skills and capabilities of rescue personnel to meet international standards.
On the first day, participants refreshed their Level-1 skills and were introduced to critical safety protocols essential for disaster response. The training emphasized primary techniques in swift water navigation, preparing participants for more intensive simulations in the following days. The session was led by seven expert international trainers who guided participants through these essential exercises.
A-PAD’s Swift Water Search and Rescue training program is a collaborative initiative involving A-PAD Sri Lanka and the Disaster Management Centre. The program is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan through the Official Development Assistance, the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, and the People of Japan. This collaboration underscores a commitment to enhancing the skills and capabilities of rescue personnel in adhering to international standards, ensuring effective and efficient disaster response.
