Over the past few years as the inclement weather conditions have caused landslides and floods, disaster management has been at the top of the priority list in the scouting program. With this in mind, the Badulla district school scouting officers requested for training programs in disaster management and first aid for the scouting students in order to enhance their existing knowledge so that they can continue to carry out this important voluntary service in future. APAD – SL reciprocated their request and conducted a training and awareness program on disaster risk reduction and basic first aid for the scouting students from schools in the Badulla District. A total of 52 students from 3 schools participated in the training program, B / ST. Thomas Collage, B / Uwa College & B / Hiland College in Badulla and Bandarawela Divisions. The Assistant National Commissioner of Scouting at Head Quarters was the resource person for this training and conducted the program for the students.
