Project Phoenix: A Nation Rising From The Ashes ~ A Private Sector Lead Initiative

Aug 5, 2019

Following the tragic Easter attacks which occurred on 21st April 2019, Sri Lanka a phoenix on its own, is now gradually entering a recovery phase. Amidst the negativity that was clouding, the entire nation came together in serving the survivors of this attack. Identifying the existing gaps in response, a tri-partnership was formed with Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement and A-PAD Sri Lanka. Leading this initiative, HSBC via its Global Disaster Relief Fund, has committed to provide long term assistance to the affected communities of Colombo, Batticaloa and Negombo.

Project Phoenix aims to provide medical assistance, reviving of education, non-food assistance, community/school safety programs inclusive of psychosocial support, community clinics (optical/hearing), special nutritional assistance for children below the age of 5, educational scholarships, livelihood support and special assistance to overcome special medical conditions.

Embarking on this journey, ensuring a light at the end of the tunnel for our fellow Sri Lankans, this tri-partnership will stand by the affected communities, gradually bringing back normalcy in its own capacity.
