Gammadda Launches Third Edition of Door-to-Door Research Report

Jul 12, 2019

The 2018 edition of the GAMMADDA report on Socio-Economic Challenges in Rural Sri Lanka, commonly known as the ‘Door-to-Door’ report was launched at the BMICH on the 11th of July 2019. The report is a partnership between The University of Peradeniya and The Gammadda Foundation, where combined teams of researchers travelled across Sri Lanka over many weeks visiting homes and talking to people. The information was collated and analysed by the University team led by Prof. Tilak Bandara under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Upul Dissanayake. Two previous reports were compiled and released in 2016 and 2017. The launch of the latest research report will be followed by the start of the fourth ‘Door-to-Door’ research initiative across deep, rural Sri Lanka. The teams from Gammadda and the University of Peradeniya will fan out across the country and focus on compiling information on the various hardships faced by communities. This time, the teams will be using the very latest in technology, including a ‘Geo-spatial App’ specially designed for this purpose.
