Swift Water Rescue Demonstration a Symbol of Civil Military Cooperation

A-PAD Sri Lanka in collaboration with Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Life Saving carried out a Search and Rescue Demonstration and Rehearsal on the 11th of April 2019 at the Mount Lavinia Beach. The event featured participants from Sri Lanka Life Saving, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force and volunteers from private sector organizations – Capital Maharaja Organization, Lion Brewery Ceylon, Seals Volunteer Emergency Response Team (SVERT) and Ironman 4 x 4 Community Emergency Response Team (I-CERT) who were a part of six scenarios that were carried out including, Spinal Management, Boat Capsize Drill, Rock Rescue, IRB Rescue, Board Rescue and Air Rescue. The demonstration was conducted as a rehearsal of swift water rescue techniques in preparation for the South-West Monsoon as well as to showcase the capabilities and techniques of the members of the newly trained A-PAD SL Search and Rescue team to the A-PAD international members who were on visit to Sri Lanka. The event also included a demonstration by the team from I-CERT on Vehicle Rescue.
